INTO THE WOODS

Casting 9-18 years old (you must have turned age 9 by Sunday 7 July to take part).

This project aims to bring young people together working to create a Broadway musical junior title leading to performances in the summer holidays at Great Hall at The Leys.

Show synopsis

Be careful what you wish for, as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their ground-breaking, Tony Award-winning musical.  Into the Woods JR. features all of your favourite characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch — in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

The musical centres on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever.

The fee is £250 per participant.

If a family has more than one sibling participating in the project, each additional sibling will be charged £200.

The participation fee does not include meals or transportation, which remain the responsibility of parents/guardians. CTC endeavour to keep project participation fees as low as possible but, unfortunately, we do have to cover the rise in costs for venue hire, pastoral care and tuition fees during the project period.

Payment Schedule
There are two payment schedule options:

Option 1 - Full payment of the participation fee to be made in late May 2024 on the
applicant accepting a part in Into the Woods.

Option 2 - £150 to be paid in late May 2024 on the applicant accepting a part in Into the Woods.

The remaining balance of £100 to be paid by Friday 28 June 2024.

The participation fee must be paid by Friday 28th June 2024. Failure to pay by this deadline will result in the participant being excluded from the project. Should the participant decide to withdraw from the project, the participation fee is non-refundable.

The participation fee is per project and will be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme as we are a registered charity. This means that for every £1 paid to us, we will be able to secure 25p to support Cambridge Theatre Company. If you participate in the project we will forward you a Gift Aid declaration, which we very much hope you will complete.

Bursary Fund
There are a limited number of bursary places on offer for those who genuinely cannot afford the fees. Please contact Louis Ling, [email protected] for a subsidised place application form. You may be asked to supply proof of household
earnings.
